Beyond the tyranny of writing workshop in Luxembourg

From Monday 26 to Wednesday 28 May, Kasper co-hosted with Constanze Weth an international workshop on the theme of "Beyond the tyranny of writing". The workshop opened with a keynote speech by Florian Coulmas of the German Institute of Japanese Studies in Tokyo, Japan, and further included presentations by Manuela Böhm (Kassel), Ulrich Mehlem (Frankfurt), Mikko Laitinen (Växjö), Jos Swanenberg (Tilburg), David C.S. Li (Hong Kong), Collette Noyau (Paris), Friederike Lüpke (London), Daniel Buncic (Cologne), Gabriele Budach (Saarbrücken), Joop Van der Horst (Leuven) and Luxembourg colleagues Jean-Jacques Weber, Melanie Wagner, Luc Belling and Lucas Duane Bernedo. Bernardino and Jurdana also attended parts of the workshop. The workshop was an opportunity to discuss planning and progress of the STAR project with Friederike Lüpke, a scholar of language contact and multilingualism in West Africa, and one of the STAR project's advisers.
