From 9-11 April 2014, Kasper attended the 6th Linguistic Landscapes workshop in Cape Town, South Africa, organised by colleagues at the University of the Western Cape with the theme of "Hope and Precarity". He presented a paper, including an outline of the STAR project, entitled "Landscapes of mobility: Tourists, vagabonds and the involuntary immobile."
